Lancashire’s finest

Posted by tom washington on

An ode to two of Lancashires finest exports, Fred Dibnah and the Accrington Nori brick.

The bricks being the building blocks of famous buildings and Fred being famous for pulling down big brick buildings.

I spent timeless hours as a child, with my Dad watching Fred climb huge steeples and chimneys. Up precarious ladders and frightening overhangs, all with a cigarette in his mouth.

And have long revelled in the wonder of a brick that was created with the wrong name in Accrington. Then used in the foundations of the Empire State Building in New York City.

Two great things that make us proud of being from Lancashire.
